Marbella swimming pool leak repair and renovation

This leaking swimming pool in Marbella was built in the early 1980’s. It was built on a sloping plot, with the lower side of the plot being built up on a retaining wall. The construction of the pool is not good, the concrete in the pool walls is not sufficiently thick to be strong enough. Over time the ground has shifted, the pool tipped a little and then cracked, once the pool cracked, the pool leaked.

The first time the pool cracked, the owner had repairs done. These repairs to the cracks in the swimming pool comprised of breaking out the effected areas, filling and injecting with epoxy repair mortar and then replacing the tiles. This first pool leak repair lasted about 2 years, but after the repair was done, the pool cracked in other places, as the stresses on the pool opened up the next weakest point. These cracks were subsequently repaired, then the first crack opened up again and the swimming pool leaked again.

In the last 8 years, the pool had been emptied 6 times to try to repair the cracks. Unfortunately, once a swimming pool starts to crack like this, the process is never ending, costing thousands in unsuccessful repairs and wasted water, not to mention that the pool looks a mess because of the patchwork of repairs.

In order to fix this type of swimming pool leak there are really only 2 choices. Demolish the structure and rebuild it or install a reinforced membrane from Renolit.
