Repair earthquake damaged pool, Sierrazuela, Fuengirola, Malaga

Our Norwegian clients have owned this house in Fuengirola, Malaga for many years and the pool has had several repairs made to cracks in the structure. Typically none of these repairs had been successful, with the cracks reappearing. This is expensive, both in the wasted labour and water to refill the pool after each repair.

The problems with this pool cracking and leaking finally got to the point that something had to be done after there was an earthquake in the area. This earthquake caused minor damage to many houses in the Mijas area. After the earthquake hit, the cracks in the pool opened again and water could be seen coming out of the wall at the back of the pool.

The owner chose Renolit AlkorPlan liner as the solution for a couple of reasons. The first is the guarantee of waterproofing from the manufacturer. The second reason was that the pool was due to be renovated, so the installation of the Persia Sand liner was a good cosmetic choice. The final reason was that the clients’ brother has a house in the North of Italy, where earthquakes are common. His liner is over 15 years old and still looking good, so our client was more than confident in the manufacturers claims of durability and the 10 year warranty.

With this pool, the first step was to change the fittings, such as the skimmer, jets and drain to be liner comapitible. Then we installed the liner, which is Renolit AlkorPlan 3000 in Persia Sand. This gives the water a beautiful turquoise colour. For the non slip finish on the steps, we used “Touch” range, which looks and feels like natural stone.

We are very proud of the results here and more importantly, our client is very happy!
