This pool is beautiful, nestled in the mountains between Malaga and Antequera. Unfortunately, it didn’t look like this when we arrived. The pool was in desperate need of repairs. The pool was leaking badly. Some repairs had been carried out, changing pipes for the skimmers and jets, but the problem here was structural.

The swimming pool had been built in a way that takes advantage of the natural form of the land. This gives a stunning look, but also means that the pool is stressed by the way that the ground wants to move. The area of the steps is probably on the most stable part of the ground, as in this area there is bedrock present. The deep end of the pool is where the ground is falling away. We suspect that these stresses are the reason for the pool leaking, as there is cracking in the shallow end of the pool.

The first part of the installation is to replace all of the fittings in the pool with liner compatible ones. This includes the skimmers, jets, drains etc. Once these are in place, we can install the top profile. The reinforced liner is then heat welded into place.

The reinforced pool liner from Renolit is both the waterproofing and cosmetic finish of the pool. It is the perfect solution for a cracked or leaking pool.

The natural earthy tones of the Renolit AlkorPlan 3000 Persia Sand really complement the area. The treads of the steps were finished using Renolit TOUCH Sublime, the non slip material gives a stunning detail.

This project took 4 days, due to the size and shape of the pool. If you are planning works to your pool, plan for when you are not using the pool, not 2 weeks before your guests or clients are coming. Our pool liner installations are fast and relatively mess free, but there are only so many working days in a year and then there can be unforeseen delays, such as bad weather, so plan ahead and enjoy a leak free swimming pool this summer.

This pool was a self build by the previous owner of the house. It has a fantastic form and really looks good, especially now we we have renovated it and made it waterproof!

This swimming pool was leaking from vertical cracks in the structure. These were caused by poor design and poor building methods.

The design of the pool was poor because the pool is very long, but the narrowest point is in the middle of the 13m length, creating an inherent weakness in the design. At this narrowest point, the pool cracked both sides. If the standard of construction had been good, maybe this would not have happened.

The quality of the swimming pool construction was poor. It has been built on reclaimed ground, not uncommon in Spain. This is not a problem if the foundation is good. Instead of being built with reinforced concrete, breeze blocks filled with concrete were used. This will never be as strong as plant mixed concrete poured over steel cages and properly vibrated.

The Renolit AlkorPlan liner is a solution specified by architects and civil engineers for the waterproofing of flawed structures, as the material has a guaranteed 3% capacity. (other versions of AlkorPlan lining are used for reservoirs, tunnels and waterproofing of factory roofs). This 3% equates to allowing movement of 3cm per metre. No other swimming pool waterproofing has this guarantee.

For this pool, we installed the Renolit AlkorPlan 3000 membrane in Persia Blue with matching non slip material for the treads of the steps. A renolit liner can be fitted to your pool as a renovation method. Your pool doesn’t have to be broken.

This swimming pool is built on a sloping plot of land and it appears that some of the foundations were built on land that had been built up. As the ground settled, the foundations of the pool moved and the pool cracked.

This is quite a common problem. In this case the major movement happened a few years after the pool was built. The cracks in the pool are leaking, letting water run out into the ground around the pool. If this kind of leak is not stopped quickly, the results can be catastrophic. As the water trickles out it washes the earth away, which in turn aggravates the movement. As the pool moves more, the cracks can become bigger and so on. It is a vicious circle.

By installing a reinforced swimming pool liner or membrane from the Renolit AlkorPlan range, the pool is guaranteed to be free from structural leaks. By halting the pool leaks, the structure is unlikely to move more as there will be no water washing out the foundations. The pool also looks great, as the reinforced liner is a fantastic cosmetic finish and is used for fast renovations of both domestic and commercial pools.

This swimming pool uses the popular Renolit AlkorPlan 3000 liner in Persia Blue. This lining is the one that best emulates the original tiled finish. It’s pattern is carefully designed to disguise blemishes in the pool construction, such as the walls not being completely straight or plumb. Our Norwegian clients have owned this house in Fuengirola, Malaga for many years and the pool has had several repairs made to cracks in the structure. Typically none of these repairs had been successful, with the cracks reappearing. This is expensive, both in the wasted labour and water to refill the pool after each repair.

The problems with this pool cracking and leaking finally got to the point that something had to be done after there was an earthquake in the area. This earthquake caused minor damage to many houses in the Mijas area. After the earthquake hit, the cracks in the pool opened again and water could be seen coming out of the wall at the back of the pool.

The owner chose Renolit AlkorPlan liner as the solution for a couple of reasons. The first is the guarantee of waterproofing from the manufacturer. The second reason was that the pool was due to be renovated, so the installation of the Persia Sand liner was a good cosmetic choice. The final reason was that the clients’ brother has a house in the North of Italy, where earthquakes are common. His liner is over 15 years old and still looking good, so our client was more than confident in the manufacturers claims of durability and the 10 year warranty.

With this pool, the first step was to change the fittings, such as the skimmer, jets and drain to be liner comapitible. Then we installed the liner, which is Renolit AlkorPlan 3000 in Persia Sand. This gives the water a beautiful turquoise colour. For the non slip finish on the steps, we used “Touch” range, which looks and feels like natural stone.

We are very proud of the results here and more importantly, our client is very happy!

The renovation of this swimming pool in Monda, between Coin and Marbella in the province of Malaga, Spain is now finished and looking fantastic, thanks to the PiscinaLiner team and the excellent products from the leading manufacturer, Renolit. The AlkorPlan lining system is the “best skin for your pool”.

In this pool there were several leaks. The skimmer pipes were both leaking from damaged pipework due to the ground subsiding. The subsidence had also caused the swimming pool to crack both horizontally and vertically at the shallow end of the pool.

The decision was made by the client to tackle all of the swimming pool’s leaks and cracks in one go over the winter and leave the pool looking brand new for the arrival of guests in the Spring.

The first thing repaired was the leaking pipes. The terrace had to be excavated and cut up to get access to the pipework. As stamped concrete is impossible to repair to match the rest of the terrace, we built a new area for sun loungers, using rustic tiles that are the same as other terraces and compliment the pool surround.

Inside the pool we changed the fittings to be compatible with the Renolit AlkorPlan liner and did cosmetic repair to the cracks. The inside of the pool was thoroughly cleaned and the top profile installed. After this the reinforced liner is installed. It comes in rolls and is cut and then heat welded onsite, giving a smooth easy care finish, with no regrouting needed. The best part is the 10 year warranty against leaks! True peace of mind for the homeowner, knowing that the pool is properly repaired.

The colour of this liner was Persia Blue from the Renolit Alkorplan 3000 range.

Although the pool is not for use by restaurant guests, what could be better than enjoying a great lunch or dinner and seeing some of our work!

The buildings at Los Lucas have been lovingly restored, adding to the charm of the place. The pools also needed reformation, as they had suffered cracking. The management wanted to be sure that the pools would not leak, very important for commercial applications. The Renolit AlkorPlan liner gives this reassurance, with a 10 year manufacturers warranty.

The main problems were that the old pool had been built from blocks and with ground movement had suffered cracking. Rather than keep trying to fix cracks every year, they management decided to do the job once, properly, which often works out more cost effective in the long term and is in keeping with the high standards of Cortijo Los Lucas.

This pool between Turre and Mojacar, Almeria, was a typical DIY build by the previous owner of the house, although it looked nice, the pool structure was leaking through cracks in the floor and wall. The cracks were caused because the pool was not built from materials of sufficient strength. The pool has been built from concrete blocks and the waterproof rendered and tiled.

The owner of this swimming pool had spent a lot of money in the past on unsuccessful and some unneeded repairs. Water is becoming a scarce resource in some areas, so the cost of water to constantly fill a leaking pool has to be considered. This client decided that after the Summer, in the autumn months he would repair it once, properly.

We have installed an AlkorPlan liner to both renovate and waterproof the swimming pools structure. In addition, for peace of mind, the plumbing has all been changed. Although the pipes were not leaking, the client felt that after 15 years it was preventative maintenance, especially considering the way that the ground can move here.
