This example is a 20x10m steel panel pool in Vera, Almeria. The original liner was nearly 20 years old and due to poor maintenance required replacement. This project took 5 days, including the installation of the pool liner for the children’s pool.

The first step is the removal of the original liner, dismantling of the fittings, cleaning the shell out. Here we found some corrosion, so it was carefully inspected to ensure that there were no failed areas.

The liner used here is specially developed for use in commercial applications. The XTREME range has higher resistance to chlorine, as in commercial applications, the level of chlorine can be higher, or the pool requires shock treatments.

This large community pool was poorly built and the structure has cracked in several places. Attempts at repairs had been made but unsuccessfully. The repair of cracks in a swimming pool is rarely successful. In this case, some of the cracks had been repaired repeatedly. The swimming pool was leaking so badly that it could not be kept filled.

The solution was clear. The architect specified that a Renolit AlkorPlan liner should be installed, because of its high strength and flexibility, ensuring that the pool will be water proof. GUARANTEED.

For a project of this size, it is important to use an entity with a proven track record and the resources to complete the pool works in a timely manner.

The first stage in the installation of a liner is replace the fittings, such as the skimmers, jets, drains and lights with liner compatible units. In this case the complete skimmer buckets have been changed, as there was good access because of the building works next door. Once the new skimmers, lights, jets and drains are in place, the liner can begin to be installed.

The PVC pool membrane is reinforced with fibres, making it ideal for waterproofing leaking or cracked swimming pools. The PVC membrane is heat welded into place on site, so it can be adapted to fit virtually any shape of swimming pool.

The requirements of commercial pools require the best products. This pool was suffering from problems with tiles coming off and generally looking in very bad condition.

The tiles had been repaired several times and the pool regrouted, but this did not solve the problem. The community wanted a more permanent solution, as repairing the gresite again was not something that they wanted to do. They had looked at other solutions such as fibreglass, but fiberglass (polyester resin and chopped glass matt finished with gelcoat) did not give the type of finish or guarantee of durability required.

Renolit Xtreme from the AlkorPlan range was chosen for its superior quality and resistance to chlorine and staining. Renolit Xtreme is guaranteed for 15 years.

The first stage of the installation is to change the fittings for swimming pool liner compatible units. It is important to use the correct ones to avoid leaks. The lights have been changed for par 56 LED units, reducing running costs and maintenance, which is important for urbanizacion or community swimming pools that get heavy use.

After this, the walls were smoothed over with any missing tiles being replaced and a geotextile membrane was put on the floor. The Renolit xtreme membrane is then installed. The membrane is fused together using hot air welding.

We can also install Renolit Xtreme membrane into domestic swimming pools, for renovation of prefabricated pools, tiled pools or swimming pools that are cracked and leaking.

This community pool was built 8 years ago, but leaked from the start. The list of problems the pool had is quite extensive.

The pool is cracked in at least 4 places on the walls. Each of these cracks were a substantial pool leak. In some places, the cracks ran through the light buckets, as can be seen in the photos. Several attempts at repair were made by the constructor, but none of these repairs were successful, as the concrete is just not strong enough.

There is also a crack running up the centre of the pool, this is due the the 110mm drain pipe running through the middle of the pool, weakening the structure at a critical point. Normally the drain pipe would exit to one side of the pool or to the closest wall.

The installation of the Renolit AlkorPlan reinforced liner will ensure that the pool structure will not leak any more. It took a total of 6 days to finish the installation, a pool this size would normally be faster, but the columns separating the deep end and shallow end added an extra complication.

Renolit AlkorPlan reinforced pool liners guarantee waterproofing, as the liner is 3 layers of material, 2 waterproofing layers with polyester mesh bonded in between. For added durability, the liner is coated in lacquer to protect it from chemicals.

The shallow end of the pool has had the floor completely covered with non slip material as it is so shallow.
