Mijas Golf, Malaga, Spain, Total Swimming Pool Refurbishment using the Renolit AlkorPlan reinforced membrane system.

This total pool, garden and terrace renovation project was a joint effort between 3 collaborating specialists, with colour scheme and general look sketched by a local designer. The gardens and plantings by Eeeden’s Gardens, GroupPro Builders and ourselves, PiscinaLiner.com. We are used to working with other contractors and organising schedules of works between us.

One of the best things about reinforced membranes is the flexibility it gives with the design and the ability to make major changes to the form of the pool. The reinforced membrane is both the waterproofing and the cosmetic finish. It allows changes to be made to the shape or structure of the swimming pool using more economical methods, such as bricks, or filled blocks, rather than having to worry about bonding and tying in new concrete in a way that there would be no cracks between the new and old structures.

Here the structural changes involved reducing the depth of the pool, blocking off the old overflow point, raising it to match the height of the rest of the pool. A new skimmer was added at the point where the pump house is, meaning that this pipe is not hidden in the ground, reducing possibility of leaks. A new jet pipe was installed that supplies floor jets, these spray the water out sideways across the pool floor, meaning cleaning is much reduced.

The material chosen is RENOLIT ALIVE, PRANA. A deep green that gives a Caribbean feel to the pool area, perfectly blending with the planting and the cascade. You’ll agree it is a lot better looking than blue mosaic tiles.

Planning your pool renovation is something that you need to do in the off season, DO NOT wait until spring, or you will either not get the work done in time for summer, or the project will be stressed.
