An old prefabricated pool with original bag liner in very poor condition. The liner that comes with the prefabricated pool kit is very very thin, hence the name “bag liner”. This one had reached the end of its life and started to fail, causing the swimming pool to leak.

The liner needed to be replaced, but the clients wanted the best, so chose Renolit AlkorPlan Persia Blue, with Touch Relax sand stone effect for the steps (matching the terrace).

This community pool was built 8 years ago, but leaked from the start. The list of problems the pool had is quite extensive.

The pool is cracked in at least 4 places on the walls. Each of these cracks were a substantial pool leak. In some places, the cracks ran through the light buckets, as can be seen in the photos. Several attempts at repair were made by the constructor, but none of these repairs were successful, as the concrete is just not strong enough.

There is also a crack running up the centre of the pool, this is due the the 110mm drain pipe running through the middle of the pool, weakening the structure at a critical point. Normally the drain pipe would exit to one side of the pool or to the closest wall.

The installation of the Renolit AlkorPlan reinforced liner will ensure that the pool structure will not leak any more. It took a total of 6 days to finish the installation, a pool this size would normally be faster, but the columns separating the deep end and shallow end added an extra complication.

Renolit AlkorPlan reinforced pool liners guarantee waterproofing, as the liner is 3 layers of material, 2 waterproofing layers with polyester mesh bonded in between. For added durability, the liner is coated in lacquer to protect it from chemicals.

The shallow end of the pool has had the floor completely covered with non slip material as it is so shallow.

A total swimming pool renovation in Alicante using Renolits brand new Ceramics Liner. This liner has the same exellent easy care characteristics as the rest of the Renolit AlkorPlan range, however this liner is slightly thicker than the standard AlkorPlan 2000 and 3000 ranges.

This extra thickness is because the liner is formed to have the texture of traditional tiles, with recessed grout lines. The grout lines are also textured so that they look exactly like traditional cement grout. This texture also means that the liner is non slip, so it can be used on the treads of the steps as well.

This pool took around 3 days to finish, because of the complication of the steps.

The result look fantastic, the owner will be very happy!

Will I be able to fit the pool border myself?

Yes – we’re really confident you can. We’ve created a set of simple step by step fitting instructions with lots of pictures to guide you each step of the way.

Will the swimming pool border fade in the sun?

No. All our swimming pool borders have a specially formulated protective coating that includes an advanced Ultraviolet filter. The filter prevents Ultravoilet (UV) light from reaching the vinyl surface of the swimming pool border.

Will the swimming pool border fall off?

No. All our swimming pool borders have an adhesive that’s been designed to be used in a normal swimming pool environment. Don’t worry about the border getting wet or being exposed to strong sunlight, it will not peel off or come unstuck.

Will the swimming pool border get stained like my liner did?

Hurrah no! All our swimming pool borders have a specially formulated protective coating to reduce dirt and suntan lotion sticking to the border around the waterline. Pool liners do not have this coating, this is what makes a big difference. (except for Renolit AlkorPlan 2000 and 3000 series liners, which are treated with lacquer to prevent staining). Pool liners supplied in kits do not have this coating

How much do I need to lower the water level?

There’s two different answers here, depending on which size of pool border you buy. 150mm (6in) border – lower the water level about 200mm (8in). 250mm (10in) border – lower the water level about 300mm (12in).

Do I need to get into the swimming pool to fit the border?

You can if you want to… but it’s very easy to fit from outside the pool – that’s the way we do it.

How do I clean the swimming pool border?

Gently!! All you need to do is dip a soft sponge or cloth into the swimming pool water and give the border a gentle wipe over. That’s it – no scrubbing!

How long does it take to deliver?

Delivery times vary depending on what part of the world you live in. If there’s a special occasion you really want to have your pool looking good for – we recommend you allow 15 working days from placing your order till it arrives with you.

How long will the swimming pool border last for?

We guarantee all swimming pool borders for one year. We’ve got happy customers with swimming pool borders fitted over five years ago that look as good as new today.

Will the swimming pool border cover a rip or tear in my liner?

Not really, if the liner has got to the point where it has started to split, it is probably best to consider replacing the liner with a Renolit AlkorPlan reinforced liner, which is the best quality on the market.

This pool is located in the town of Jávea on the Costa Blanca. The house is mostly used for holiday rentals, so it is important that the swimming pool is in good condition, will not injure anyone, is easy to care for and not leaking.

This pool showed the typical problems of years of wear, tiles were falling off, grout missing, dangerous and sharp broken glass mosaic tiles on the edges of the steps and so on.

The reinforced liner from Renolit solves these problems. The pool can be renovated very quickly, with minimal mess. This large 12×6 swimming pool took one of our installation teams just 2 days. These were long days, as had to finish working under flood lights at 10pm!

The process starts with changing the fittings to be compatible with the liner. These include the skimmer, drain, jets, lights, hoover point etc…. Most of this is done from inside the pool, meaning that the surround doesn’t have to be touched.

Once the new skimmers etc are all in place, the top plate is fixed in place and then the liner is welded in. Each joint is welded twice and then further sealed with liquid PVC. The liner itself is treated with lacquer and leaves a smooth easy care finish.

The liner is guaranteed by the multi-national manufacturer, Renolit, for 10 years, giving peace of mind that your pool structure will be trouble free.

Renolit AlkorPlan liner installation. Wood pools are prefabricated swimming pool kits that are a good choice for places where an above ground pool is the most sensible option. They are not normally used in the very hot and dry parts of Southern Spain, such as in Malaga, but further north, where the temperatures are a bit lower and the climate a bit more humid, they are more common.

The wooden walls are made from high quality, pressure treated timber, designed for use outdoors. The timbers are normally around 40mm thick to support the weight of the water inside the swimming pool.

As with most kit pools, the liner supplied is a very thin “bag” liner, which comes as a ready made liner from the factory. They are hard to install and they are prone to wrinkling. They also do not have the durability and strength of a reinforced liner and need changing. Most homeowners opt for a Renolit AlkorPlan liner, as it is guaranteed to be watertight and looks superior in every way.

A Renolit liner is treated with lacquer to protect its looks further.
