Total Pool Renovation, Touch Vanity, Manilva, Estepona

This was a total renovation of an existing pool structure and terrace area. This shows what can be achieved with some imagination. The renovation of the pool included the following –

All new plumbing installation, with all new fittings
Installation of new LED lights
Installation of counter current swim pump

Fit out of pump room with all new electrical control boxes, pumps for cascade, filtration and swim pump.

As you can see from the before and after photographs, a lot of work went into creating the perfect pool. The marble effect of the TOUCH VANITY membrane gives the water a stunning blue turquoise colour. The TOUCH range is textured and feels luxurious. At the end is also a video of the installation.

This large swimming pool is located between Coin, Alhaurin el Grande and Cartama. It had suffered from cracking and poor repairs.

We were asked to look at the pool by potential buyers of the house, as they were suspicious about the repairs that had been done. After a quick look at the pool, it was clear that poor repairs had been done to hide the fact that the pool had tipped and cracked. Moving the gravel away from the outside of the swimming pool clearly showed how badly the pool had cracked.

The old owner of the house had put a new surround on the pool and patched the top area and the cracks. If he hadn’t skimped on the bodged repairs and used the correct tiles, the new owners would not have known that the pool was leaking until it was too late.

The only guaranteed way to repair a cracked pool is to install a reinforced Renolit AlkorPlan liner. This provides the waterproofing. We prepared a quote for the work, which the new owners used to negotiate the price to buy the house with.

The colour chosen here was Renolit AlkorPlan Persia Sand, with sand unicolour non slip steps.

We always stress that the best time for planning pool works is in the off season when you are not using the pool, don’t leave it until it suddenly gets hot and you would like to use the pool! Advance planning avoids disappointment, although installations are very quick and fuss free, there is always the potential for delays, either with rain, sickness, breakdowns or other unforeseen problems, such as a total shutdown because of the Corona virus. We lost 6 weeks because of this, but the forward planning clients had swimming pools for summer, as the works were planned well in advance, in plenty of time for summer.

The other thing that gets overlooked is the working conditions, the later in the year you leave the work, the hotter it gets. We have seen temperatures as high as 50 degrees inside a pool with no water, which takes its toll on the workers.

Renovation of an old cracked and leaking pool in Torreblanca, Mijas Costa. The refurbishment of this swimming pool started by changing the fittings, such as the skimmers, jets, drain and lights for liner compatible ones. For the lights, we always replace with LED, further reducing ongoing maintenance.

If it is possible to make small alterations to ensure that there will be less possible problems in the future, then we do them. In this case there was some access under the pool. 2 sides of the pool were completely open and 2 sides had access to half way around. Buried in the parts that had no access were pipes for 1 of the jets and one of the skimmers. If there was ground movement in the future, it could easily break one of these pipes causing a leak. To prevent this, we capped off the jets with the pipe buried in the ground and moved one of the skimmers to where the old autofill was. Should there ever be a leak in the plumbing, all the pipes are now fully accesible.

The cracks in the pool were patched to leave the surfaces smooth, then we installed the excellent Renolit AlkorPlan 3000 Persia Blue reinforced pool membrane. This is both the waterproofing and cosmetic finish. It is an easy care swimming pool surfacing, with no cement grout to harbour algae or glass tiles to chip and break. The Renolit AlkorPlan system is guaranteed not to leak!

Planning works when you are not using the swimming pool is the most sensible thing to do. Although installations are quick and fuss free, there can be unexpected delays, due to rain, pandemic viruses etc. Our advise is not to put off works until a few weeks before you want to use the pool, this avoids disappointment. Planning for works in the autumn or winter months ensures that you have a trouble free beautiful pool for summer.

After not being used for several years, this swimming pool needed a total renovation. The tiles were all falling off the pool, the structure was cracked and had tipped slightly and generally, looked disastrous.

These types of project don’t scare us though! In this case, the owner has prepared the pool ready for the installation. He removed the tiles (normally this doesn’t need doing, but in this case they were not well stuck), he rendered the cracked areas to be smooth and installed new prefabricated capping stones to level the pool.

Our first job is to install the correct fittings for the Renolit AlkorPlan reinforced pool liner. These are special fittings with rubber gaskets and stainless steel screws. The top profile goes up and the pool is ready.

The Renolit AlkorPlan 3000 Persia Blue was used here. It looks great and the carefully designed pattern disguises flaws and imperfections in the structure. The best part is that the pool structure is guaranteed not to leak!
