Repairs to pool with loose tiles, Mijas
Mosaic tiles falling off swimming pools is a common problem, There are many reasons for this, but commonly it is because of-
- The first is that no maintenance has ever been done and the grout has just washed away over time (15-20 years)
- The second is that far too much acid has been used causing the grout to have broken down and damaged the adhesive underneath.
- The wrong materials were used when the pool was tiled and they have failed.
- The pool was left empty for many years and expansion and contraction causes the tiles to fall off.
There are other contributing factors, such as allowing algae to take hold, but the reasons above are the most common. Once the pool gets to be in such poor condition there is little that can be done to easily rectify the problem. Replacing missing tiles looks ugly and regrouting is only putting a plaster on a broken limb.
The homeowner really only has 2 ways to solve the problem of the swimming pool tiles falling off. One is remove all the tiles and degraded cement, render smooth and retile, this is a messy and time consuming process.
The other, more sensible option is to install a Renolit reinforced pool membrane, leaving an easy care surface, where tiles can’t fall of. This completely renovates the pool, leaving it looking like new and the homeowner with a swimming pool that they can be proud of.
This project took 2 days, we changed all the fittings and moved the lights to a more appropriate position.
Hi
Our.pool has been left empty for three months and now all the.mosaic tiles around the deep part drain are just simply.lifting off.
Can we just repair or will.we.need to.retike.it.all?
Thanks
My pool is 20 years old. Over the last 4 years I have been replacing tile each year. My pool is 5×10 x1.5 meters. Can you give me a rough estimate on how much would it be to change to your plastic lining. I live in Almeria.
